Marcel Franquelin was born in France. He earned two Masters in Fine Arts, Art History, and Art Education at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Lille, and the University of Lille respectively.  He has been teaching art and the French language since 1979 in France and in the United States.

 

He has based his art on the Renaissance model of the atelier, Marcel’s Art Studio attracts people of all ability levels who are interested in developing their skills in oil painting, drawing, airbrush, pastels, pen and ink, and watercolor.  After a series of introductory exercises, students select their own subjects and media and work at their own pace under the guidance of Marcel Franquelin, a classically trained artist with 30 years of experience.  The students section of the website testifies to the caliber of the learning experience and the consequent products.  In addition to studio practice, students are encouraged to participate in exhibitions and art competitions. There are a variety of membership programs so that students can meet their personal schedules and needs.

Marcel has created numerous commissions for clients, collectors, and corporations, including Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, I.M.O. Industries, Alba Vineyard,and  Howard Tullman. He also executes commissions for individuals.

 

A wide range of galleries have displayed Marcel’s work, including Grath Davidson ( NJ), Ambassador Gallery (NY), Marin Price Gallery ( D.C), Stricoff Gallery (NY), Sherry French (NY.   American Artist, International Artist, Artist’s and School Arts magazines have featured Marcel’s work, as well. Many awards include Salmagundi (NY) Merit Award, “1st Place at “Myartworkspace.com”, Artkudos Merit Award, Artist’s merit award, etc.

 

At his studio in Monmouth Junction, NJ , Marcel teaches a full schedule of classes in basic drawing, oil painting, airbrush, pen and ink, charcoal, and watercolor. He individualizes instruction based on the student’s abilities, needs, and desires.  Together, he and his students exhibit in various places and donate some of their work to charitable auctions.
